"I'll Tell You a Tale"
Oh how grim. Isn't that the most morose you've ever been?
I'll tell you a tale dipped with folly.
A refreshing tale of melancholy. You'll shed a tear but want to hear more.
As soon as the grizzly eats the family whole.
As soon as the fisherman gets lost at sea.
Because the best tales are those of tragedy.
"Searching"
What is it we're searching for
In a piano piece
In a kiss
In holding someone's hand
In a pill
Is it a thrill
An escape to a magical nowhere land?
A little drop of potion
Running through our veins
A potion so potent as to take away all pain
A tinkle of high
A carefully crafted lullaby
As each note hits a higher nerve
Progressively speeding
The heavenly fumes that send our heart reeling
The rush of belonging
Of finally being free
Being loved the way it's meant to be
Having all your dreams come true
What would you give?
what would you do....
If I said it's already inside you?
"The World is Much Better in Verse"
The world is better in verse
Let’s traverse
All of humankind,
With the swipe of a pen
Let us sweep
Through every human mind
With the hint of a spark
That lights a fire in men
I know not
What I’ve seen not
I feel not
What isn’t a part of me
And this is the tragedy,
That you might not see
what I see
In my poetry
Words plucked right out from the air
So much so they’re barely there
Each little line so very terse
Yet the world is still much better in verse.
"Endless"
I never realized how endless the sea looked
How vastly the night sky stood
How grand the world was
The floor such an open space
The turn of a corner such an exciting place
Until I longed for each inch of it to be
Where next I'd walk into your embrace
"Love Bug"
There's a hurt in my side
There's a pain in my spleen
It's an invisible little bugger, most painful thing you've ever seen.
He's crawling around. Now he's exiting my rib
And crawling right into my heart, thumping something mean
He won't leave me alone
He won't let me be
He makes my body ache
Soon as it's you I see.
He tickles my tongue
And makes me trip up
He tickles my knees
And won't let me stand up
He grows wings and flutters around in my tummy
He sends a shockwave through my veins
Makes my arms numb
makes my palms wet
And makes me feel like a dummy
He gets in my eye and makes me blink really fast
Goes in my mouth and
Gives me pursed lips soon as you pass
I've tried to get rid of that little guy
But he quickly comes back
soon as you walk by
Making me dour
And nothing will get rid of him
Except a cold shower
A good night's sleep
Or studying for hours.
So before you wonder what happened to me
Just realize the little guy loves finding other people to bug
So I'll fix my hair, look posh as I can, smile your way
And if you walk by again, you might catch the bug!
